Taronga Zoo

The only zoo I have ever visited that you need to catch a ferry to reach. Leaving from Circular Quays every half hour, a ferry take you around the harbour to the zoo.

Taronga zoo is a unique place to visit, you arrive at the boat jetty. The zoo itself is built on the side of a steep bank. You alight the boat and step onto a cable car which takes you all the way to the top of the hill and the start of the zoo, you then work your way down the slope and back to the ferry. Zig zaging through the animal enclosures, being on the side of a steep hill you are presented with some magnificent views, of Darling Harbour, the Harbour bridge and of course the Opera house.

You can choice to have your phototaken with one of the zoos Koalas.

Taronga Zoos Wallabies

Of course there are Wallabies.

Taronga Zoo porcupine

Porcupine

Even the Kangaroos and easy going.

The zoo offers one of the finest collection of native animals, in a truley unique environment. Visitors are allow to walk through the kangaroo paddock, no fences or wires to spoil your photographs here.

Taronga Zoo Tasmanian Devil

'Tasmanian Devil' this photo took quite a while to capture.

One of the real challenges, I found, was trying to photograph the Tasmanian devil, they are speedy little buggers.
