York Minster.The Minster is the largest medieval Gothic cathedral in North of the Alps, and is over 900 years old. Famed for the Great East Window (1338), a huge stain glass window well worth a look.The minster was mainly built between 1220 and 1480. Clifford’s Towers
In 1068 William the conquer built two mounds, onto of each were built
Wooden towers. Destroyed by fire in the 12th century, they were rebuilt
in the unusual figure of eight design you see now.
