RotoruaMaori culture is strong in Rotorua, and there are a number of cultural demonstration around. Any of which is worth visiting. I went to Te Whakarewarewa, which is a shorten version of the full name, ‘TeWhakarewarewatanga o te Ope Taua a Wahiao’ which in English means ‘ The Gathering together of the war party of Wahiao’

Whakarewarewa village is actually a populated village, people actually go about there daily lives. The Maori community give tours and demonstrations of there culture. It’s a fascinating place to visit. You also get a chance to see ‘Big Splash Geyser’ or Pohutu Geyser to give it it’s Maori name. Be sure to bring you cameras. |
