Red Pandas are actually a family of there own as they more closely resemble Racoons than Pandas or Bears..

A Sleepy Cheetah.

This guy is one of a pair of young cheetahs the zoo has.

'Eastern grey kangaroo'

'Kangaroos can jump up to 13.5 metres in one bound. They can travel at around 20km per hour, but can move at up to 70 km per hour when they need to.'

Wellington Zoo - Sam the Lion

'Sam the lion'

'Typically a mature male stands 1.2m at the shoulder and is up to 2.5m long, plus tail. He'll average just over 200 kg. Females are considerable smaller, weighing less than 120 kg.'

Sam is such a gentle name for an animal with such big teeth.

The Red Panda is an amazingly adept climber.

They are most active in the early morning and late afternoon. Like giant pandas their diet of bamboo doesn't provide a great deal of energy. They can eat 200,000 bamboo leaves in one day.

If you are lucky the Red Panda will even pull faces at you.

Two adult Cheetahs, a bit more awake than the youngsters.

 

Wellington Zoo- Lion

'Young lion'

Wellington zoo has a successful breeding programme with 1 male lion and 3 female. A lions roar can be heard up to 5km away.
